Joe has over 35 years of hands-on experience in the hydro-electric field which inspired him to create a bird stop, unlike any other, that could be easily installed on the outside rear of the streetlight, sealing the gap and eliminating the perch point. His extensive knowledge in streetlight systems and maintenance has allowed him to understand the detrimental effects of birds nesting in streetlight heads, hence, prompting him to design a product that would prevent the birds and bees from entering the opening in the back of the light. This device had to be durable, resilient to extreme hot and cold temperatures, UV resistant and recyclable, and most importantly, it had to be effective. Finally, after a few design changes and years of field testing he has a perfect solution to the bird problem in streetlights.
In Canada, L.E.I. Birdstops is affiliated with Fortis BC, SASK Power, Ministry of Transportation and HDSupply. In the United States, they have affiliations with Stuart C. Irby, Resco, HDSupply, and Wesco. Joe aspires to see his bird stops installed on every streetlight in North America, significantly reducing the costs for the streetlight maintenance programs.
